Pattern Name: Irish Chain Sash and Block
Age: 1890s-1910
Quilting: hand-quilted with a utility stitch; machine pieced
Material: VIBRANT cheddar, turkey red, chrome yellow, and over-dyed indigo cotton calico with feed sack backing
Measurements: 70x70
Heritage: This quilt was found in Tennessee. This quilt is an absolute show-stopper. It combines all of my favorite colors into a unique and beautiful Irish Chain variation with a sash and block between the chains. You will find beautiful turkey red, vibrant cheddar, chrome yellow, and overdyed indigo green calicos. The piecing and quilting are very well done. This is definitely a display quilt, though it is sturdy enough to be used on a bed as well. Whatever you do with it, it will be STUNNING!
Condition: Overall the piece is in impeccable condition for its age. There are a few seam separations and a few spots of fabric wear to some of the flour sack piecing. This is normal given the age of the piece. The piece is soft and sturdy. It's really quite a solid workhorse of a quilt. Great care was taken to store and care for the quilt. With proper care, it will last many more years.
